Today was a great day. We made paper flowers today at Craft-N-Cork. Everyone was so creative! It was so fun to walk around my house and see lovely ladies creating such lovely flowers. Here are some moment’s from this last month that have built up to today. And at the end some beautiful pictures from our day at Craft-N-Cork!
My day started off with some nerves. I have been building up to today for over a month now. Prepping and preparing… I created such an excitement and anxious concern that everything would go perfect that I gave myself a stomach ache! I think God knew that giving some spring time weather on a day where we’d be making flowers seemed very fitting. I’m so thankful for the warmer weather today and the sun shining through my windows. I took the kids down to the park after doing most of the final touches at the house. It was a breath of fresh air to get outside. Though what really touched my heart the most today was a letter from my old boss and friend. He believes in me and has always been so inspiring, encouraging and always so supportive! He wrote me a letter which I found in the mail box on the way home from the park and it brought me to tears as I stood on the sidewalk across from my house. I feel so blessed. I hope he doesn’t mind but I wanted to share how touching his letter was to me, here on my website. It was one of the most encouraging letters I’ve received. I especially loved the last line where he wrote, “A special thanks to your parents for nurturing what is truly in your heart.” Thank you Skip, from the bottom of my heart.
Another moment that was pretty exciting was when I decided just to take a leap and email the authors of the book we used for our paper flower project. I thought maybe they’d like to know how I’m featuring their book at my event and inspiring other ladies to create from their amazing flower creations! I had already spent my budget but was hoping maybe they could help provide some additional books so that I had a few for everyone to use. I wasn’t sure if they would reply, but within an hour, she replied and wrote this! “Thank you for getting in touch, and for your kind thoughts about our book. Your events sound wonderful, and I am sure that everyone will have a wonderful time. I wish we had lots of books to send out, but we have to buy them also, and at this time we don’t have any to give out. I just sent you one copy from amazon, and it will arrive to your PO box address on Saturday, I hope that it will be helpful to you.” Having a famous artist from across the country in New York City, be willing to contribute to my Craft-N-Cork event was pretty fantastic!
And then there are moments, like when I was at Costco a couple days ago, buying the food and beverages for today. I like to decorate the tables with some flowers, and have so far bought the same peach colored roses. I was checking out and the clerk asked me what I was planning on doing with such lovely flowers! So I told her. I told her about Craft-N-Cork and what I was doing, hosting women in my home for wine and arts and crafts every month! She seemed very interested so I gave her a brochure from my bag! I didn’t even catch her name, but I really hope she wants to join us next month! It was so exciting to see joy in someone’s face when I talk about Craft-N-Cork with them. So so inspiring to me!
So even though I had moments this month where I was questioning myself, feeling discouraged and overly aware of my grief affecting every area of my life. I believe that God will use this no matter which direction it takes, no matter how successful. I had moments this month, where I asked myself, “What are you doing? You’re opening up your heart to so many people, what are they going to think?” I was feeling like I’m now being watched to see how I react to life. But no, I know that by me opening up to you, I am allowing you to come along side me as I walk through this life.
I believe people need someone to love them and believe in them and believe in their dreams, with them. I have been blessed to have people like that in my life as I’ve grown up and navigated adulthood, my husband, my Mom and Dad, my Grandparents, my Youth Pastor and my Boss. All people reflecting God’s love for me. I want to do the same.
So with that said, here are some pictures from today. Thank you everyone who came to Craft-N-Cork and to everyone who was supporting us today in prayer!
